Thursdays: 7pm – 8:30pm
Fridays & Tuesdays 11am – 2pm
We operate an Open Arms policy – everybody and anybody is welcome – if you eat you’re in!
There is a great sense of Community Spirit in the café bringing everyone together one bite at a time. Everybody sits together on large tables which adds magic to the atmosphere, a place for new and old friends to meet. Have a look at what our customers say here
We keep you on your feet as the menu isn’t decided until the day of the café as it depends on the food that has been intercepted. This is a fun and creative task for the chefs 😀 We aim to cater for everybody so along with meat dishes we offer vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options. If you have an allergy concern speak with one of the volunteers.
Thursday’s the café comes alive! We offer the true restaurant experience with table service, so sit back, relax and enjoy. There are small tables for children to sit and colour and play games, a book & clothes swap shop and bring a bag to for the take away food boutique.
Friday is LCIL’s Social Media Café so you can enjoy some tasty food cooked by us with love whilst you access community orientated services and information. Alan is our resident artist who paints as you eat and Greg our resident violinist who rounds off your dinner with soothing melodies.
Tuesdays is our new weekly lunchtime café! Starting on Tuesday 16th August, we’re trying to shift the large amounts of bread we collect on Mondays, so there will be a bread themed menu most weeks, plus the usual teas, coffees etceteraaaa.
We have recently (July 2016) stopped doing our weekly Saturday cafés as we didn’t have enough people coming in. But Saturdays are not lost! We’re planning to do one ‘Super Saturday’ per month – fun and games with arts and crafts, table tennis and table football with a monthly open jam music session & soon to be monthly film screenings. If you have an activity, workshop or event for our Super Saturday café then please get in touch
The café is run by a wonderful team of volunteers. We depend on them through the whole process from collecting to preparing, cooking and serving the food and cleaning up too! Our home at LCIL West End Neighbourhood Centre is fully accessible for everyone. It is a short walk from the City Centre, has a small carpark and free on street parking.
Any surplus food that we have we donate to The YMCA, The Dawn Centre, Park Lodge and many more projects across Leicester. We also serve surplus fruit, vegetables and bread to families of King Richard III Primary school, pay as you feel. #Fuelforschool
