Tuesdays: 11 am – 1 pm (drinks only)
Thursdays: 7 pm – 8:30 pm
Fridays: 11 am – 2 pm
We operate an Open Arms policy – everybody and anybody are welcome – if you eat you’re in!
There is a great sense of Community Spirit in the café bringing everyone together one bite at a time. Everybody sits together on large tables which adds magic to the atmosphere, a place for new and old friends to meet. Have a look at what our customers say.
Tuesdays we serve hot and cold drinks only, along with our food boutique – a selection of food we’ve intercepted that you can take away, for a donation.
Thursdays the café comes alive! We offer the true restaurant experience with table service, so sit back, relax and enjoy. Make sure to also check out our book swap and takeaway food boutique.
Friday is LCIL’s Social Media Café so you can enjoy some tasty food cooked with love by us whilst you access community orientated services and information. Sometimes our resident artist Alan is there, who paints as you eat.
The menu is created on the day with whatever goodies come into the café. We aim to cater for everybody so along with meat dishes we offer vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options. If you have an allergy concern speak with one of the volunteers. We also serve teas and coffees which are 50p for a refillable mug and St Martins coffee which is £1.50.
The café is run by a wonderful team of volunteers. We depend on them through the whole process of collecting to preparing, cooking and serving the food and cleaning up too! If you would like to join our friendly team and help save the environment whilst being part of the community we’d love to hear from you!
Our home at LCIL West End Neighbourhood Centre is fully accessible for everyone. It is a short walk from the Leicester city centre, has a small car park and free on-street parking.
First visit to the junk food café?
You can find us at the West End Neighbourhood Centre – ask at reception if you’re not sure where we are in the building, or follow the smell of delicious food and the sound of lively conversation!
We operate on a Pay-for-a-plate basis which is a minimum of £3 per person (children free) This allows access to a two-course meal. We do encourage visitors to “pay forwards” if they can, which puts more into the project allowing us to grow in the future. There is also the opportunity to volunteer your time instead of using cash, just fill in the form on the “Get Involved” page.
We’ve always got food you can take away with you afterwards from the pay-as-you-feel food boutique – so you can make your own Junk Food at home! We have also been donated a piano so now you can Play-As-You-Feel too. We’re a friendly bunch, so come along on your own or with friends and family!
